ASRU researchers to present findings at the International AIDS Conference

From 18 to 23 July 2010, several ASRU researchers will be presenting findings to the international AIDS research community at the XVIII International AIDS Conference in Vienna, Austria. Activities include:
Prof Nicoli Nattrass, ASRU director, will be a panelist in a session titled The Future of Universal Access, moderated by Mark Heywood of Section27. The other panelists are Kieran Daly of Canada, Peter Mugyenyi of Uganda and Robert Vitillo of Switzerland. The session will be held on Tuesday 20 July 14:30-16:00.
Prof Nattrass and ASRU PhD student Eduard Grebe will be exhibiting their poster titled Prevalence and determinants of AIDS conspiracy and AIDS denialist beliefs and implications for risky sexual behaviour among young adults in Cape Town, South Africa. The exhibition is on Tuesday 20 July 12:30-14:30. [More information will be made available once the conference embargo expires.]
Dr Rebecca Hodes, ASRU post-doctoral fellow and Anna Grimsrud of the Centre for Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Research, UCT, will be exhibiting their poster titled Causes and Implications of the 2008/2009 Antiretroviral Moratorium in the Free State Province of South Africa. Prof Nattrass and ASRU fellow Nathan Geffen will be presenting a joint talk on their respective books documenting the struggle against AIDS denialism in South Africa, Mortal Combat: AIDS denialism and the struggle for antiretrovirals in South Africa (UKZN Press, 2007) and Debunking Delusions: The Inside Story of the Treatment Action Campaign (Jacana, 2010). The talk will be held in the Community Dialogue Space on Wednesday 21 July 18:00-19:00 as part of the Red Ribbon Awards.
